Muslims! Fear Allah as is befitting. Cling to the firm handhold of Islam. In this is the success in your dunya and your hereafter.

Know that Allah has "ways" (sunan) with regard to his creation which never change. (Verse)

On of His "ways" is that "you reap what you sow". (verses)

Also: whoever focuses on the means of worldly success will get whatever Allah decreed for him from that and his hereafter is in serious doubt. Whoever focuses on the means of success in the hereafter, will find the success in both. (verses)

Also: Allah tests his creation.

A believer who finds good knows it is by the fadhl of Allah and is grateful knowing that no one "deserves" anything from Allah. If he is given, it is by Allah's generosity and if not it is Allah's justice. Under tests, the believer is patient and knows that it is because of his shortcomings and sins and that Allah wishes to raise his level in the hereafter by it. (verses)

So, a believer constantly looks over his own actions, holds himself to account and repents for every wrong which he knows about and that which he doesn't.

As for the disbeliever or one who shares some of his attributes the result of good coming to him is arrogance and an illusion of self-sufficiency and disregard for other people. When tested, he is impatient but takes no lesson or benefit, stays in his kufr and blames something or someone else for his predicament.

MUSLIMS:

Our calamities have become so many these days. Every where we turn, we hear and see nothing but injury and insult to Islam and its people. Muslims dying is worse than could be imagined. Everyone has a theory the plots of our enemies, our weak economies, our underdevelopment or lack of technology, etc. They are looking at symptoms, not the disease. The cause of all this injury and insult to which we are subjected is our own negligence with regard to our deen except for those upon whom Allah has shown mercy.

This Ummah has seen much worse than this in the past. The only thing that brought us back to safety was when calamities were lessons which reminded us of our deen.

In these days when insult and injury upon Islam have increased and are everywhere, we must remember the words of the salaf that: The last of this nation will never be corrected except with that which corrected the beginning of this nation. We Muslims cannot release ourselves from responsibility by blaming others for our condition. If we don't solve our own problems according to the Book of Allah and the Sunnah of His Messenger, then we have no one to blame but ourselves.

The solution to our ills is in Allah's hands.  After that, it is in the hands of the rulers over the Muslims and our scholars. These must cooperate and strive together to rectify this Ummah. All of mankind will benefit from that.

When calamities come, the first escape from them is tauba sincere repentance to Allah. (verse)

One will say: Of what benefit is my tauba for the saving of this nation? Answer: the cause of every good here and in the hereafter is obedience to Allah.  The cause of every hardship here and in the hereafter is disobedience to Allah. The tauba of every individual increases the good and decreases the bad. The previous nations were destroyed for no other reason than the quantity of their sin. Thamud was destroyed because of the killing of the camel done by ONE INDIVIDUAL. (verses)

(hadith)

Don't underestimate the value of your own tauba every day. Hold vast to the Qur'an and the Sunnah. They will light your way and guide you away from all evil.

Unity is wajib. (verses)

Justice toward all including non-Muslims.

Beware of Allah and fear him as one who knows that Allah sees clearly the hidden, the even more hidden and every secret conversation. Repent to Allah and dress your repentance with good deeds and staying far from evil. Put aside some good deeds before you stand before Allah. (verse)

Get ready for the question you must account for before you can move at all on Qiyama: (hadith)
